A driving force to improve competencies in delivering ventilation system hygiene and reduce kitchen duct fires, Alan has been a prime contributor to BESA TR/19 the standard for duct cleaning. He investigates kitchen duct fires for insurance companies, runs competency training for those undertaking kitchen duct cleaning and awareness of related fire safety issues. Is a trustee of
BESA, member of the Apprenticeship Board and qualified to undertake statutory testing of ventilation systems.
Currently a director of a company undertaking independent fire safety audits of kitchen grease extract ventilation systems for major shopping centres, hotel groups and motorway service areas.
